In 1999, Hoyle and her family moved to Lane County, Oregon, where she joined the education advocacy group Stand for Children. Before serving in the Oregon legislature, she worked in sales and marketing for bicycle manufacturers Burley Design and Cane Creek, and served as legislative aide and policy analyst for State Senator Floyd Prozanski. She was also a director of the United Way of Lane County.

Lori Chavez-DeRemer OR-05

Current Position: US Representative of OR District 5 since 2023
Affiliation: Republican
Former Position: Businesswoman; Happy Valley City Council from 2004 to 2010 and Mayor from 2010 to 2018
District:  from the Southeast suburbs of Portland through the eastern half of the Willamette Valley and then reaches across the Cascades to take in Sisters and Bend. 
Upcoming Election: Retainws her House seat.

In June 2017, Chavez-DeRemer formed a political action committee to explore a gubernatorial bid in 2018. In October 2017, she announced in a YouTube video that she would not run for governor, clearing the primary for eventual nominee Knute Buehler.

Lori Chavez-DeRemer is the first Republican woman to represent Oregon in the House.

2022 OR04 – US House Race

From 2012 to 2020, the 4th district included the southern Willamette Valley and the South Coast, including Eugene, Corvallis, and Roseburg. The district was kept largely the same despite redistricting, though it did gain parts of the central coast previously in the 5th district, making the district more Democratic leaning. The incumbent is Democrat Peter DeFazio, who was re-elected with 51.5% of the vote in 2020. He is retiring.

Val Hoyle (born February 14, 1964)is an American politician serving as the commissioner of Oregon’s Bureau of Labor and Industries (BOLI)(commonly referred to as the “Labor Commissioner”).

She is a former Democratic member of the Oregon House of Representatives, representing District 14, which includes West Eugene, Junction City, and Cheshire. She was appointed to the House in August 2009 and was re-elected to serve full terms in 2010, 2012 and 2014. She served as co-chair of the House Committee on Rules.

In December 2021, Hoyle announced that she would be a candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in 2022 while incumbent Peter DeFazio has declined to run for reelection.

2022 OR05 – US House Race

From 2012 to 2020, the 5th district straddled the central coast, and included Salem and the southern Portland suburbs. The new 5th district keeps the southern suburbs of Portland and reaches further into the city, but does not include any coastline, instead stretching southwards through the eastern parts of Marion and Linn counties to Bend.

The incumbent, Democrat Kurt Schrader, was re-elected with 51.9% of the vote in 2020. He lost renomination to Jamie McLeod-Skinner.

Jamie McLeod-Skinner (born May 31, 1967) is an American attorney, engineer, and politician who is the Democratic nominee for Oregon’s 5th congressional district in the 2022 election. McLeod-Skinner defeated incumbent representative Kurt Schrader in the Democratic primary for Oregon’s 5th district.
